Jerry Lee Hanley

Jerry Lee Hanley, 67, of Elgin, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, with the Rev.  Dennis Ganz officiating.   Inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with military honors provided by Clear Lake V.F.W..

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Jerry Hanley Memorial Fund.

Jerry was born Nov. 23, 1947, the son of Jimmie and Alma (Pedersen) Hanley, in Mason City, Iowa.

A United States Navy veteran, Jerry was stationed in the Mediterranean.  He worked at Farmstead Foods, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later at the Clear Lake Bakery.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and absolutely loved and cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by two sons, Scott (Carissa) Hanley, of Elgin, and Brian (Angie) Hanley, of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Gage, Nate, Malynn, Brayden, Elijah, Levi, Cody, and Raychel; his mother, Alma Hanley, of Clear Lake; a sister, Carolyn Nichols, of Clear Lake; and a brother, Duane (Mary Ellen) Hanley, of Ventura.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Hanley; and his brother-in-law, Willie Nichols.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
