Julie MacDonald
Julie Ann MacDonald, 70, of Clear Lake, Iowa died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
A celebration of Julie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 21, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. Family suggests memorials to North Iowa Humane Society.
Julie was born Jan. 30, 1945 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Edwin Christian and Helen Doris (Clawson) Estergard. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1963 and then Hamilton Business College in 1964.
Julie married Jack MacDonald June 27, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. They lived in Rochester, Minn. for over 33 years where they raised their children. She was a long-time employee of Mestad’s Bridal, Rochester, Minn. as a bookkeeper and secretary. They moved back to Clear Lake after they retired in 1998. Both Jack and Julie loved being back in the town where they were raised.
Julie was an avid reader and read hundreds of books. She spent much of her time volunteering at Opportunity Village and other organizations in Clear Lake. She also enjoyed spending time with her 99-year-old mother who resides at Apple Valley Assisted Living, her husband, kids, grandkids and her many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Jack MacDonald, Clear Lake; three children, Kristen (Charlie) Wilfahrt, Minneapolis, Minn., Barbara (Jeff) Meyer, Edina, Minn. and Joel MacDonald, Cantwell, Alaska; five grandchildren, Abigail Wilfahrt, Luke and Natalie Meyer and Fiona and Owen MacDonald; and her mother, Helen Estergard.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Estergard.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
