Karen K. Winkels

  Karen Kathleen Winkels, age 68, of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

  Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Sacred Heart Oratory, in Meyer, Iowa, with Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Meyer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, in Osage, Iowa, with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m.

  Karen was born Jan. 24,1949, to Paul and Mildred (Wensmann) Winkels.  She attended school in Meyer and Riceville, Iowa. Karen worked at the Bell Motel in Mason City, 7 Nations in Mason City, the Pheasant Run in Mason City, and Burger King in Clear Lake. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, and NIVC (North Iowa Vocational Center) in Mason City. Karen enjoyed knitting hats, jigsaw puzzles, watching TV game shows, the program Animal Planet, she enjoyed cats, and being with her family.

  Karen is survived by her sisters, Audrey Winkels, of Clear Lake, Lucille Winkels, of Clear Lake, Pat (Bob) Theis, of Riceville, Doris (Bill) Heimer, of Clear Lake, Jan Walters, of Rochester, Minn., and Judy (Larry) Mischke, of Theilman, Minn.; brother, David Winkels, of McIntire, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and Godchild Megan DeHaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and Rusty her cat.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, in Osage, was in charge of arrangements.
