Let the spring cleaning begin! Clear Lake, Ventura announce Large Item Pick-Up dates
One of the surest signs of spring has appeared. The cities of Clear Lake and Ventura have set their Large Item Pick-Up dates, signaling the start of some serious spring cleaning.
Clear Lake
In Clear Lake, the Large Item Pick-Up will be held April 9-12. Residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to dispose of large items that cannot be discarded through their weekly garbage service. The Large Item Pickup map will appear in the Clear Lake Mirror Reporter on April 4, listing the dates the City will pick up in each area of the city

and the items that will and will not be picked up.
City residents can have old appliances and/or electronic items picked up during large item cleanup for a cost of $15 an item. Stickers can be purchased for $15 each at Clear Lake City Hall, 15 N. 6th St. Stickers must be purchased by 5 p.m. on April 11. Items that require a sticker are: furnaces, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, copy machines, water heaters, fluorescent light fixtures, televisions, computer monitors, and printers. Pickup of appliances in all areas will be on April 12. Appliances with stickers attached need to be by the curb by no later than 7:30 a.m. on April 12.
The City will not pick up any items that may be recycled through the Landfill of North Iowa’s electronic waste-recycling program. Landfill customers may drop off VCR’s, DVD players, stereo equipment, computer towers, mouses and keyboards, input devices, scanners, video surveillance cameras, fax machines, and cordless phones for recycling. Many of the above items may be recycled free of charge at the Landfill.
Ventura
The City of Ventura has announced its Large Item Pick-Up for Ventura residents (including the Venetian Village area) will be Saturday, April 7. Large items must be curbside by 6 a.m. that day.
The pick-up does NOT include construction waste, solvents, batteries, hazardous waste, yard waste or household trash which can be picked up on a normal trash day.
Appliances will be picked up curbside for a $20 charge. Acceptable appliances include: de-humidifers, microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters, washers and dryers.
There is a $15 charge for “e-waste” disposal. Televisions, VCR, DVD players, copiers, printers, computer monitors, fax machines, stereos and computer towers may be taken to the Ventura Community Center parking lot on April 7 between 7 and 9 a.m. The $15 payment is required at the time of drop-off. A collection supervisor will be on site to take payments and answer questions.
A dumpster will be available at the Ventura Community Center parking lot on April 7 between 7 and 9 a.m. for residents to discard passenger car tires ($2), truck tires ($4) and tractor tires ($10). Payment for each tire is required at the time of drop-off. A collection supervisor will be on site to manage the car tires.
