The Clear Lake volleyball team ended its regular season on the upswing. The Lions swept Hampton-Dumont, 3-0, on Thursday, Oct. 15, at home. Scores were 25-12, 25-14, 25-14.
“That’s the most consistent we played for three straight sets this season which is a good thing going into the post season,” said Coach Heather Johnson.
The Lions were led by seniors Chelsey Holck and Delaney Eden.
“Chelsey had a really good hitting night and Delaney had seven blocks on the night. What a great last home match for all our seniors to experience,” added Johnson.
Holck put down three kills and attacked with 64.3 percent success.
Ali Maulsby was another senior leader with a team-high 12 assists.
Juniors Jaden Ainley and Ashlyn Fread also figured big into the win. Ainley made 17 digs over three sets, while Fread recorded seven aces from the service line. She was 26/28 for 93 percent success. Ainley was a perfect 11/11 serving, as was Holck, who also had an ace. Maulsby had two aces while going 10/11 serving.
The future of Lion volleyball also looks bright, with junior Emily Theiss putting down four kills against the Bulldogs and freshman Xada Johnson making five kills.
