Lions fall to Mohawks, 1-0, in girls soccer showdown
by Marianne Gasaway
The lions traveled just a few miles Thursday night, April 18, to square off against the Mason City Mohawks. It was a defensive battle, with the Mohawks controlling most of the game.
Coach Greg Jennings credited Lion goalkeeper Chelsey Holck with a phenomenal game. She tallied 18 well-earned saves and only allowed one goal to be scored. That came off a penalty kick in the 63rd minute of the game, ending the matchup in the Mohawks’ favor, 1-0.
