Lions fall in post-season to tough Osage team

The Clear Lake volleyball team bowed out of post-season play at the hands of 14th ranked Osage Thursday night.  The Green Devils swept the match, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22.

I was extremely proud of the way the team battled in our final match against Osage,” said first year Coach Jill Smith.  “Osage is a very well-coached team with some very experienced players. It was certainly a tough first round draw for us, but I thought we played a great match with them.”

The coach noted serve receive was a positive aspect of the match and Lion hitters stayed aggressive.

Senior Emily Snelling led the Lions at the net with six kills.  Senior Emilie Jandebeur and junior Maddie Davis each had five.

Carson Frahm set up the offense with 19 assists.

Chloe Mueller and Snelling were defensive standouts with nine and eight digs respectively.  Jessica Faber and Frahm each finished with five.

The Lion serving game continued to be strong, as it has all season.  Macy Mixdorf was a perfect 10/10, while Mueller and Faber were 6/6 to pace the team.  Kiersten Baalson went 6/7 from the service line and Frahm was 4/5.  Snelling made good on seven of nine serves.

“I am so pleased at the strides this program has taken throughout this season. We laid a solid foundation for the future of Lion’s volleyball,” concluded Coach Smith.

The Lions finished with a record of 9-23.
