Lions win four relays
Clear Lake won four relays and posted victories in two individual events on their way to a third place finish at the Don Hoppel Co-ed Relays at Garner Monday.
Connor Nosbisch won by almost a second in the 110 meter high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.09. Nosbisch was also a member of the winning shuttle hurdle, 4x200 and 4x100.
“We loaded up the 4 x 200 and it paid off with a win,” said Coach AJ Feuerbach. “ The kids ran great for having one of our best runners, Chandler Diercks, out for a few meets so we can get him healthier for conference and districts next week. Other guys stepped up for him and that shows we have some depth that we haven’t had as much in the past. I am extremely proud of our team. The times keep going down and that is what we want. “
Members of the winning 4 x 200 were Nosbisch, Zach Tatum, MaKean Bang, and Jake Harle. The group ran a 1:34.80. The same quartet comprised the winning 4x100, clocking a 45.07. The shuttle hurdle ran a 1:00.82 with Truesdell, Chase Bacon, Alex Vander Ploeg and Nosbisch. The 1600 medley was won by Bacon, Bang, King and Alex Webb.
In field events, Harle had the winning leap of 19’ 10”. Pete Swenson was third in the shot put with a toss of 41’ 2.75”. Tamarik Lee was fifth in discus with a mark of 114’ 3” and Vander Ploeg was fifth in the high jump, clearning 5’6”.
Other top finishes included Harle and Tatum placing second and fourth in the 200 in 22.69 and 23.50 respectively. Tatum was third in the 100 dash in 11.40 and King was third in the 400 in a time of 54.19. Truesdell crossed the finished fourth place in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:00.78.
