Lisa L. Martin

Sometimes a soul passes to the next world making us sure the good folks on the other side simply needed another smile. We are certain they are smiling now. Lisa Lynn Martin, 51, of Clear Lake, passed peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at her home at Opportunity Village.

A celebration of Lisa’s life was held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Kinney-Lindstrom Center Gym at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, with Pastor Rich Murray, Spiritual Resources Coordinator of Opportunity Village, officiating.  Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

For those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial in Lisa’s name or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village.

Lisa, the youngest of five children, was born to Clement and Helen (Arganbright) Martin, in Mason City on June 28, 1964. She attended school in Mason City, Charles City and St. Colletta School, in Jefferson, Wis. She was a resident of Opportunity Village for more than 25 years.

Lisa loved to sing and performed in the Opportunity Village choir, Bell Ringers and Sing it with Sign. Lisa spent hours listening to her vast collection of country music and oldies, singing along with every song. She once served as the Mayor of Opportunity Village and competed several times as a swimmer in state Special Olympics. Lisa made every person she knew feel genuinely loved and was known for her wonderful sense of humor and love of a laugh!

Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Kim (Rick) Bendickson, of Ames, Iowa, Deb Dunn, of Waterloo, Jeri (Steve) Skram, of Waukee; and brother, Tom (Sandy) of Montrose, Colo.; as well as many special nieces, nephews, other extended family members, along with her Village family.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Arrangements were with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, Mason City.
