Lon Fjetland
Lon Delano Fjetland, 69, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake, surrounded by his family and best friend, Ron, in a sleeping bag in the closet.
Visitation was held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.
Lon was born Sept. 27, 1948, the son of Clifford and Verlette (Moen) Fjetland, in Forest City. He married Roxann Helmers on Oct. 10, 1968, at Forest City Evangelical Lutheran Church.
A graduate of Forest City High School, Lon continued his education at NIACC, in Mason City. He owned and operated the Forest City Dairy for several years before becoming the director of corporate services at Winnebago Industries.
Lon was a member of the Forest City Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also the drummer of the Rondels Band for 25 years, which included his two brothers, Collin and Jerry, and a close family friend, Lou Banta.
Lon is survived by his wife, Roxann Fjetland, of Clear Lake; four children, Brandon Fjetland, of Clear Lake, Holly (Kent) Brcka, of Mason City, Blair Fjetland, of Clear Lake and Blain Fjetland, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Riley and Blake Fjetland, Olivia, Alex and Nick Brcka; a sister, Virginia (Dennis) Loux, of Clear Lake; a brother, Jay Rassmuson, of Humboldt; father-in-law, Don Helmers, of Estherville; three sisters-in-law, Carmen Fjetland, of Woden, Cindy (Kerm) Balvance, of Forest City and Anna Fuhrman, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; two brothers-in-law, Tom (Juanita) Helmers, of Kansas City, Mo. and Jon Helmers, of Champaign, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Ron Tannahill, of Clear Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Collin Fjetland; mother-in-law, Leora Srock; and two brothers-in-law, Rick Srock and Dale Fuhrman.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
