Lucille M. Anderson
Lucille M. Anderson, 98, formerly of Clear Lake, died Sunday, March 20, at Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center, Chippewa Falls, Wis.
Services are set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour preceding the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, and family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the church following the interment.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Lucille Anderson Kennedy was born to Lydia and Louis (Red) Kennedy on Jan. 21, 1918, in rural Meservey, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Meservey in 1936, and married Carroll D. Anderson on Nov. 18, 1939.
Lucille was known for her friendliness and hard work. She was employed for many years at the Clear Lake Bakery. She also assisted her husband in his management of the Surf Ballroom, and in Carroll’s Cafe and she worked as a cook at the Clear Lake High School. Lucille worked at various places until she was 80-years old, never wanting to be inactive.
Lucille loved her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always ready to help when needed and to plan and join in many fun-filled family events. She enjoyed traveling, fishing trips, and spending winters in Las Vegas with her husband, and brother and sister-in law, Lloyd and Sally Kennedy. She was very talented in needlework, having knitted many sweaters by hand and by machine, and she made hundreds of neckties for family and friends.
Lucille is survived by her two children, Thomas R. (Rozanne) Anderson, of Jim Falls, Wis., and Shelley (Rory) Wadle, of Ankeny, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jon (Lynda) Anderson, of Muskego, Wis., Kate (Mark) Mechelke, of Sartell, Minn., and Jesse (Darrell) Johnson, of Fargo, N.D.; and six great-grandchildren, Tommy and Sarah Anderson, Megan and Callahan Mechelke, and Dylan and Delaney Johnson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sally Kennedy and Pat Anderson, both of Clear Lake; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Betty) Anderson, of Clear Lake, and Larry (Pat) Anderson, of Spencer, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; two brothers, Leonard (Lois) Kennedy and Lloyd Kennedy; four sisters, Loretta Neil, Luella Marshall, Lois (Jim) Wilson, Lorene (Frank) Haddy; brother-in law, Robert Anderson; sisters-in-law, Maureen (Harley) Coyle, Phyllis (Jerry) Jensen, and Lois (Everett) Hansen.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
