Marilea Wheeler

Marilea G. “Jabber” Wheeler, 71, of Clear Lake, died Friday, June 26, 2015, at her home.

A celebration of her life was held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating.  Following the service she was cremated. Family suggests memorials to Marilea G. Wheeler memorial fund.

Marilea was born April 5, 1944 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Dorsie and Norma (Ward) Lugar.  She attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School.

While she lived in Clear Lake she worked for Unisys then IMI Cornelius.  She also worked at Lu’s Lounge and Clear Lake V.F.W.

She enjoyed bowling, collecting owls and spending time with her grand dog, Pacey James.  But her greatest joy was spending time with her friends, family and spoiling her grandkids.

She is survived by her four children, Jim Wheeler, Des Moines, Iowa, Ron (Joleen) Wheeler, Mason City, Iowa, Amelia “Amy” (Jeff) Tiedt, Clear Lake, and Dan Wheeler, Altoona, Iowa; six grandchildren, Mandi (Jon) Johnson, Mariah Wheeler, Jenna Wheeler, Tangie Tiedt, James Wheeler and Noel Jensen; great-granddaughter, Natalie Zuniga; one sister, Sara (Dennis) Ouverson, Clear Lake; and one brother, James Lugar, Austin, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Givens “Buddy” Lugar and Dan Lugar.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
