Marjorie R. Steward
Marjorie Ruth Steward, 85, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at The Meadows Retirement Community, 625 14th Ave. N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at The Meadows.
Family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa or to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Marjorie was born June 23, 1931, the daughter of Miles and Elizabeth (Lyons) Orr in Ware, Iowa. She married Roger Steward on July 30, 1961, at Algona Methodist Church.
A graduate of Laurens High School, class of 1949, Marjorie worked at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Madrid, Iowa and St. Ann’s Hospital, in Algona. She also was a homemaker for a lot of her life.
Marjorie was a member of Clear Lake United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, and playing cards and Dominos. She and Roger loved playing Cribbage together as well.
Marjorie is survived by two brothers, Robert Orr, of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Lauren Orr, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; a brother-in-law, Perry (Shirley) Steward, of Westmont, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Doretta Abbas, of Clarissa, Minn. and Karen Bringman, of Wellman, Iowa; and special friends, Wilma Steward, Shanna Askildson and LuAnn Lechnir, all of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Richard, William and Dale; a sister, Mildred Sterns; and a nephew, Donald Sterns.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
