Marsha Griffin

Marsha Kay Griffin, 63, of Mason City, Iowa, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at her home in Mason City.

A celebration of her life was held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Kathleen Moore officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the spring in the Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.   

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington High School Class of 1972 Scholarship fund, First United Methodist Church, in Mason City, or to the charity of one’s choice in her memory.

Marsha Kay Griffin was born on Feb. 15, 1954, in Burlington, the daughter of Marion and Dolores (Adam) Griffin.  Marsha lived in Burlington, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1972.  She also earned her Bachelor of Science degree and her Masters of Science degree in science and mathematics at the University of Northern Iowa.  Marsha taught school for three years in Winfield, Iowa and prior to working at Team Quest in Clear Lake, she worked for Unisys for 10 years in Clear Lake until she retired in December 2015.

Marsha was an avid quilter and made several quilts for the battered women and homeless shelter. Marsha also loved reading, taking multiple cruises, riding her bike, loved football, especially the Green Bay Packers, and Iowa Hawkeyes.  She enjoyed going to activities at N.I.A.C.C, Mohawk games, 4th of July fireworks in Clear Lake and Mason City, and baking.

Marsha loved her church and her church family, and was a former member of the Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls, and current member of PEO International Chapter KX, in Mason City.    

Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Chuck (Julie) Griffin, of Burlington, Cindy (Kent) Van, of Cora, Wy., and Pam Griffin, of Waterloo, Iowa; her niece, Amy (Chris) Robertson, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and her two great-nieces, Lillian and Adelyn Robertson; as well as many cousins and friends.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Dolores Griffin.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, was in charge of arrangements.
