Mary E. French

Mary Evelyn French, 53, of Clear Lake, formerly of Des Moines, died Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019, at One Vision, 1200 N. 9th St. W., Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman and the Rev. Scott Sokol officiating.  Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Des Moines.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at One Vision in Clear Lake.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or to One Vision in Clear Lake.

Mary was born Aug. 10, 1965, the daughter of Ralph and Linda (Bronnenberg) French, in Des Moines.  She graduated from Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines.

Mary moved to Clear Lake in 1985.  She competed in the Special Olympics, rang bells for the Salvation Army and Bell Ringers, and enjoyed working many jobs, because she got to socialize with friends.  Most of all, Mary enjoyed her family and being a long-time, avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Mary is survived by her mother, Linda French, of Des Moines; siblings, Helen Anne (Jay) Henderson, of Houston, Texas, Carol (David) Ward, of Lee Summit, Mo., David (Heidi) French, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Stephanie (Greg) Patterson, of Altoona, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, John French.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
