MC man arrested after high speed chase on Highway 122, I-35
A Mason City man is under arrest after leading authorities on a high-speed chase Tuesday, Feb. 16.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, at about 8:52 p.m., a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on US Highway 18 near the intersection of Mallard Avenue. The driver of a 2000 Buick Regal, Dillon Rasmussen, fled the scene, with additional deputies, along with Clear Lake police and an Iowa State Patrol trooper assisting in the pursuit.
The pursuit went west to Interstate 35, north on I-35 onto State Highway 122, and then back onto I-35 southbound. Speeds during the pursuit ranged from 45 mph to over 100 mph. The chase ended after the driver drove off at the Thornton exit and crashed into the ditch.

merous other traffic violations. He also had an outstanding warrant for a pre-trial violation of possession of contraband in a correctional institution.
Rasmussen was being held on $5,000 bond on the warrant and $5,000 bond on the eluding charge.
No deputies or officers were injured in the pursuit and Rasmussen was not injured.
