Michael R. Freeden
Michael R. Freeden, 57, of Clear Lake, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center – West Lakes in West Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services were held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, with Pastor Jeni Bohls, of St. James Lutheran Church and Pastor Rich Murray, with Opportunity Village officiating. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Michael was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Mason City, the son of Robert C. and Marlene (Byl) Freeden. Michael lived at the Village for the past several years working at various jobs there, where he always continued to learn. He enjoyed watching almost all sports and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and other favorite teams. But best of all, he enjoyed visiting and interacting with friends, family and his Opportunity Village family. Michael had a strong faith and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, in Mason City.
Michael is survived by two aunts, Marie Whipple, of Rock Falls, Iowa, and Linda Hoblit and husband, John, of West Union, Iowa; cousins, Carlene Gonnerman, of Mason City, Robert Whipple, of Mason City and Lee Whipple, of Waseca, Minn. and their families. He is also survived by extended family, many friends and care providers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Carl and Matilda Freeden and John and Emily Byl; and uncle, Lon Whipple.
Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, Mason City.
