Oimoen named Director of Golf at Veterans Memorial Golf Club

Veterans Memorial Golf Club is pleased to announce Mike Oimoen as Director of Golf for the 2014 season.

Oimoen, a former Clear Lake golf stand-out who went on to be a successful collegiate player, obtained a Business Management degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he played professionally for three seasons.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I look forward to growing the game of golf in the community,” said Oimoen.

As Director of Golf, Oimoen will be responsible for all golf activities at VMGC. In addition to managing the club house, he will be responsible for ensuring a very satisfying golf experience for members and guests on the course.

“When the position became available, we formed a search committee who evaluated resumes from dozens of candidates from across the country. We were very fortunate to have a candidate of such high caliber as Mike right here within our own membership,” said Jay Barragy-VMGC president. “Mike’s experience and training made him an excellent candidate, and as a life-long member, we viewed his knowledge of the course, its members, and the community to be a tremendous asset.”

Oimoen will begin making preparations for the course to open this spring.

“The spring can’t come soon enough, it’ll be an exciting time around VMGC and I’m sure everyone is as anxious as I am to get out and start a new season,“ said Oimoen.

VMGC is a public nine-hole golf course located on the North Shore of Clear Lake. Contact Oimoen for more information on VMGC, to schedule a lesson, a round of golf, or to discuss the benefits of becoming a member. He can be reached at the club at 357-4457.
