Police ask for public’s help to find Valens family photos, poster
The Clear Lake Police Department is investigating the reported theft of two picture collages and one movie poster belonging to Ritchie Valens’ family.
The family was in town for the Winter Dance Party celebration held at the Surf Ballroom. The items were taken from the Best Western Holiday Lodge in Clear Lake on Saturday, Feb. 2, from a conference room during a family luncheon. The theft was reported to the CLPD on Sunday, Feb. 3.
According to Police Chief Pete Roth, investigators have been working with the Valens family, the Best Western Holiday Lodge and the Surf Ballroom.
“The items’ return is the primary concern for the family,” stated Roth. “The items have been described as ‘precious heirlooms.’ The actual value is still being determined.”
The family and police department are seeking the public’s help in this matter. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the items they are asked to contact the Clear Lake Police Department at 641-357-2186 or at [email protected].
