Police chief finalists may be named next week

The names of finalists seeking to become the new Clear Lake Chief of Police could be named early next week.

City Administrator Scott Flory and Mayor Nelson Crabb said Monday the search is progressing well and the city is on track to have a permanent chief seated in early August.

The pool of 24 applicants for the job was narrowed to 10 and telephone interviews have been completed with that group by a committee of seven persons.  That committee identified four candidates for further analysis.

Flory said once additional diligence is complete and finalists are determined, candidate names will be released to the media.  He anticipates being able to do that by Tuesday, June 23.

“We are contemplating final interviews with me, Mayor, Council, and City Attorney at the tail end of next week, or early the following week. Tentatively we hope to have a permanent Chief seated the first part of August,” said Flory.
