Randy Durnin

Randy Scott Durnin, 42, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at One Vision, formerly Opportunity Village, 1200 N. 9th St. W., Clear Lake, with Pastor Scott Sokol officiating.

  Family suggests memorial contributions to the Randy Durnin Memorial Fund.

Randy was born Oct. 4, 1974, the son of Paul and Naomi (Blanchard) Durnin, in Waterloo, Iowa.  He grew up and attended school in Waterloo, and earned his GED while residing at One Vision.

Randy had a strong Christian faith and loved being around his family and spending time with the babies in his family.  He enjoyed playing pranks on people, telling jokes, and socializing at One Vision.  He also liked listening to country music, bowling, and competing in the Special Olympics.

Randy is survived by his parents, Paul Durnin, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Naomi Palomarez, of Texas; two siblings, Tina (Chris) Ortman and Chad Durnin, both of Waterloo; and nieces and nephews, Ryne and Mick Ortman, of Waterloo, and Kelby and Issabella Durnin, of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Janice Graham and Marvin Durnin.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
