A news conference was held to announce that Unisys and TeamQuest had reached an agreement which led to the formation of a new business in Clear Lake. TeamQuest was established by three former employees of the Unisys Software development team. Some 40 employees of that department, which was closed by Unisys, will be employed by TeamQuest. Robert Krieger is the president of the new company. Jarred Ruble will serve as vice president of software development and Terry Cobb is vice president of marketing and services.
Ice heaved from Clear Lake has severely damaged the boat ramp near City Park. The Clear Lake Parks and Recreation Department has recommended applying for state marine field tax funds to help pay for repair and extension of the ramp.
The Town Pump Lounge, 421 Main Ave., was broken into. An unknown amount of money was stolen.
Angie Pringnitz, 21, of Garner, Iowa, was the winner of an all-expense paid trip for two to Ventura, Calif. She will represent the area in a charity talent show. Pringnitz was one of 18 contestants in Saturday night’s charity talent show. She performed “God Bless the U.S.A.”

The Clear Lake boys basketball team posted a pair of NCC victories to move to 4-0. The team beat Algona, 71-63. Matt Freeseman was the top scorer with 39-points. The team also topped Hampton, 71-52. Freeseman was again the top point getter with 27-points. Adam Callanan added 18.
Against the ninth ranked team in Class A, the Ventura boys took it to the buzzer and then some for the 52-50 North Star Conference victory over CAL. Sophomore Troy Roenfanz connected on 5/7 three-pointers and was leading scorer with 19-points.
The Clear Lake wrestlers won their third tournament of the season at Forest City. Shawn Zimmerman and Jason Salge both won individual titles.
Specials this week at Happy Chef include Steak and Eggs Platter, $3.99 and Steak Dinner, $4.99. Kentucky Fried Chicken is offering a 15-piece bucket of 36-wings for $9.99.
Playing at the Cinema V is “Misery,” starring James Caan and Kathy Bates. Also playing is, “Three Men and a Little Lady.”

Clear Lake telephone subscribers will be able to enjoy the luxury of direct dialing any place in the United States and Canada that can receive such calls. Direct Distance Dialing will provide subscribers with the opportunity to dial their own station-to-station toll calls. Instruction will be mailed to subscribers.
The City of Clear Lake issued a permit to Pemco Inc. to demolish the Lake Shore Hotel located at 214 North Lake View Drive.
The average temperature for December of 1965 was 30 degrees, some 8.8 degrees above normal.
Chief of Police Nels Larson still advises parents to keep their children off the ice as it is not safe yet.
The Mason City boys basketball team defeated Clear Lake, 48-43. Bill Morisky led the Lions with 13-points.
Due to the flu bug, only a skeleton crew of wrestlers competed in the Belmond Invitational. Gene Baker placed third and Duane Schlichting and Dave Henn each took fourth.

Dr. E.J. Ridder, of Garner, has opened an office at 419-B Main Ave. He is a chiropractor and a graduate of the Palmer School at Davenport.
Mrs. E.A. Brown and pupils of Portland School gave a Christmas program and gift exchange at Portland Hall.
Newly elected members of the city council are Nibbs Nesbit, Dr. Frank Knutson, Seymour Hall, Harold Jorgenrun, E.L. Secure. Mayor M.A. Huntsman was sworn into office by city clerk, Keith Raw.
Floor joists smoldering from the heat of a fireplace above them filled the Forde Lee home with smoke early Monday.
100 Years Ago • January 1916
Installation of officers for the year 1916 of the G.A.R. W.R.C. and Sons of Veterans will be at the IOOF Hall. A 6 o’clock picnic is planned and all members are expected to bring well filled baskets. The menu will be baked beans, brown bread, dill pickles, rolls, cold beef loaf, potato salad, cake doughnuts, fruit salad and coffee.
Due to so much sickness Miss Ora Pierce will not begin her school in Dist. 4 until the second Monday in January much to the satisfaction of the kidlets.
Those who were anticipating the pleasure of a New Year’s Eve Party at the Charles Eddy home were disappointed due to the inclemency of the weather.
The way to get around that tired feeling is to let Hamstreet saw your wood.
