(Above) Officer “adopted” in 1991 - Clear Lake Police Officer Paul Chizek was pictured with his “adoptive” class, Miss Dull’s kindergarten class from Lincoln School. Dull and first grade teacher, Barb Olson, designed a pilot program in 1991 for the state designed to build self-esteem. The ultimate goal of the program is to teach students to resist substance abuse. The students pledge to be helpful, courteous and kind to the men who will now serve as their friend, as well as role models. On hand for adoption were police officers Chizek, Kevin Knebel, and John Green. The officers will now visit the classrooms on a regular basis to discuss their jobs with the students.
