Remembering
The Clear Lake Fire Department hosted an open house and flag raising ceremony to remember and honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony included an honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as past and current members of the local police, fire and military and a special guest representing the civilians who died in the attacks. Jodie McChesney, wife of former Clear Lake Police Chief Rex McChesney, took part in the touching ceremony, holding her grandson Carson. Outside of the fire department, at the corner of North 8th St. and 2nd Avenue North, is the site at which the piece of 9/11 World Trade Center steel rests forever. Reporter photo by Chris Barragy
