Richard B. Kuns

Richard “Rick” Bryan Kuns, 64, of Clear Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home.

A private family graveside inurnment was held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Grant Township Cemetery, in rural Fertile, Iowa, with Pastor Rob Perry officiating.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Rick Kuns Memorial Fund in care of Bonnie Kuns, 716 W. L St., Forest City, IA 50436, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Rick was born Sept. 28, 1952, the son of Bonnie (Bjelland) and Dale Kuns, in Forest City, Iowa.  He grew up in Fertile, attended elementary school in Fertile, and graduated from Forest City High School in 1970.  He attended Waldorf College for one year.  In 1981, he married Amy Sadler.  To this union three children were born, Rachel, Natalie, and Ethan.  They later divorced.

Rick delivered Winnebago motorhomes, worked at various other jobs, and recently worked for the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier.

Rick is survived by his mother, Bonnie Kuns; two sisters, Becky (Tom) Ostertag of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Debra (Randy) Perreira, of Clear Lake; a son, Ethan Kuns, of Ankeny, Iowa; two daughters, Rachel (Beau) Perkins, of Bettendorf, Iowa and Natalie (fiancé, Andy Schoonover) Kuns, of Bettendorf; three grandchildren, Jacob, Brewer and Tate Perkins, of Bettendorf; two aunts; an uncle; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale; grandparents, Ernie and Vesta Kuns and Lloyd and Arlene Bjelland; and an uncle, Alan Kuns.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
