Season comes to a close for girls soccer team

The season came to an end last week for the Clear Lake girls soccer team. The Lions fell, 3-2 in overtime, to Grundy Center-Gladbrook-Reinbeck in first round Regional play.
Clear Lake went up early in the match, with a goal coming from Addison Jones.
Shortly after, Jordan Mayland found the back of the net with a beautiful assist from Ella Nielson, putting the Lions up 2-0 at half.
“We were playing great soccer. We were patient with the ball and moved it really well,” said Lions Coach Greg Jennings.
With 20 minutes left in the game, GCGR snuck one past the Lion defense, followed by another just a few minutes later forcing the game into overtime.
“We played great. If you take away about three minutes of that game I saw some of the best soccer we’ve played all season,” said Coach Jennings. “I’m extremely proud of these girls. It’s been a really fun and productive season. There’s always room for growth and I’m excited to continue to work with this group moving forward.”
The Lions finished the season with an record of 8-6. They were sec and in North Central Conference standings with a record of 7-4.
