Season comes to an end for the Clear Lake girls

The Clear Lake girls completed their track season at the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet held Thursday at Garner.   The Lions had some good performances, but failed to send any events to State this year.  They were 12th in the field of 12-teams competing with 19 points.

Macy Mixdorf recorded Clear Lake’s best finish.  The freshman was third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.84.  Two more freshmen also contributed points with their individual performances. Alena Gabrielson, was sixth in the 3000 meters in 12:42.06 and Ashley Archer placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14’2.75”.

In the relay events, Clear Lake’s 4x200 team was fifth in 1:57.16.  The relay included Mixdorf, Archer, Sharrell Lee and Megan Merfeld.  The Distance Medley team of Merfeld, Lee, Mixdorf and Mallory Leisure was seventh in 4:55.05.  The shuttle hurdle relay team was also seventh, with Olivia Amos, Archer, Kayla Ritter and Talie Tesar running a 1:14.20.
