Seven Lions earn IPSWA All-State honors

Clear Lake High School’s 10-1 team was well-represented on the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association’s (IPSWA) 2019 football All-State teams announced Tuesday, Nov. 26. The teams were selected by print sports writers in Iowa during a meeting on Saturday.
Five Lions were named to the Class 2A First Team.
For the second straight year Jaylen DeVries, Ryan Thomas and Jack Barragy were First Team selections.
DeVries, who was honored as a quarterback last season, received an At-Large position on the First Team as a senior this year. Senior Ryan Thomas was again named a First Team Offensive Lineman. Senior Jack Barragy repeated as a First Team Defense selection as at At-Large position player.
Also named to the Class 2A First Team was senior Kody Kearns as a tight end/wide receiver, and sophomore Jagger Schmitt, as a defensive back.
Senior Nick Danielson was a Second Team selection at the tight end/wide receiver position and senior Austin Larson was named to the Third Team offense as a lineman.
