Sharen Roenfanz

Sharen Ann Roenfanz, 66, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura, with Pastor Jesse Burns officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Sharen Roenfanz Memorial Fund.

Sharen was born June 9, 1949, the daughter of Donald Leroy and Charlene Agnes (George) Tarr.  She was united in marriage to Daniel Roenfanz on Dec. 4, 1970, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Ventura.

A graduate of Ventura High School, Sharen received an Associate’s Degree from Iowa Lakes Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Home Administration from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb.  She was the office manager at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake for 14 years, before staying home to raise her two sons. She later worked for Principal Financial Group and held other various jobs.

Sharen was very active at Redeemer Lutheran Church, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was past vice-president and president of Dorcas Society at the church.  She was president of the Ventura Library Board that played an important role in building a new library and post office.  She also helped organize the Ventura Centennial celebration and spent years putting together the centennial book that includes the history of Ventura families.  She volunteered with the Ventura Music Parents to help raise money for new band and choir uniforms.  She was also a great cook, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Sharen is survived by her father, Donald Tarr, of Wautoma, Wis.; two sons, Troy (Amy) Roenfanz, of Waco, Texas and Travis (Rebecca) Roenfanz, of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, Ty, Remy, Porter and Cooper Roenfanz; a sister, Diane Judge, of Iowa City; three half-sisters, Lori (Chip) Battle, of Albany, Ga., Lisa (Bob) Wilbanks, of Dublin, Ga., and Jamie (Dean) Leckband, of Tucker, Ga.; and three step-siblings, Kyle Tarr, of Wautoma, Wis., Kirsten Tarr, of Milwaukee, Wis. and Cory Tarr of Wautoma, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, Charles and Bessie George, Clarence and Ruth Seidel, and paternal grandfather, Ralph Tarr; and a brother-in-law, Steve Judge.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
