Shuttle hurdle relay wins at Earlham meet

The Clear Lake girls track team headed to Earlham High School for an early bird meet on Tuesday, March 29.

The shuttle hurdle relay was the top placing event for the Lions.  The team, consisting of Mariposa Coleman, Payton McGrath, Josie Lester and Grace Meyer, placed first with a time of 1:17.62.

Alana Moody and Reese Brownlee both claimed second place finishes.  Moody was second in the shot put with a toss of 30’1.”  Brownlee ran the 400 meter dash in 1:00.84 to claim runner-up honors.

Several events brought home third place finishes:  Anna Feuerback in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:38.80 and Josie Lester in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.55.  Addison Doughan had a personal best time in the 1600 meter run finishing third with a time of 5:01.74.

“This was a good meet for us to pick up during the week,” said Coach Shawn Puttmann.  “It was a little windy, but it didn’t stop the girls from competing at a high level.  We are off to a great start and are looking to always improve at all levels.”

Due to inclement weather at the end of the meet, the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays were not run.

•400 Meter Hurdles: Coleman, 9th, 1:28.31

•Discus: Jasmine Bledsoe, 9th, 76’04”; Moody, 10th, 75’02”; Coleman, 12th, 62’3”

•High Jump: Lydia Brattrud, 4th, 4’8”; Payton McGrath, 4’4”

•Long Jump: Meyer, 8th, 13’8”; Lily Lilliberg, 9th, 13’5.50”; Maddie Leisure, 10th, 13’3”

•Shot Put: Jasmine Bledsoe, 10th, 26’7.50”

•4x200: Mariarty, Coleman, Richtsmeier, Makeln Jacobs, 8th, 2:05.47

•4x800: Feuerback, Alexis Hause, Steinbron, Hersch, 5th, 11:32.32
