With more than 40 years' experience in the news business -- nearly all of it in community newspapers -- Dick Crockford has been publisher of the Dillon Tribune since 2007, moving back to southwestern Montana after five years as editor and publisher of another Yellowstone newspaper, the Big Horn County News in Hardin.
He grew up in Fort Benton, Mont., and earned his bachelor's degree in print journalism from the University of Montana School of Journalism in 1975.
He has also worked for newspapers in Ronan and Great Falls, Mont.; Rupert and Burley, Idaho; and Shelby and Anaconda, Mont., as well as putting in a short stint in radio news in Great Falls.
Crockford is active in local community affairs, including serving on the board of directors of United Way of Beaverhead County. He is a long-time Kiwanian and volunteers in various community activities. He also serves on the Montana Newspaper Association board of directors, and is a past president of that organization.
