Steven K. Ashland

Steven Keith Ashland, 65, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the I.O.O.F. Home, in Mason City, Iowa.

Per Steven’s wishes, his body has been cremated and an inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Trees Forever or Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

Steven was born Oct. 23, 1950, the son of Harold and Erika (Hansen) Ashland, in Mason City.

A graduate of Clear Lake High School, class of 1969, Steven attended Iowa State University.  He worked for the City of Clear Lake Water Department.

Steven was a member of the Clear Lake Yacht Club, Trees Forever, and Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.   He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, biking, sailing and playing with his dogs.

Steven is survived by five siblings, Laurie (Patrick) Craven, of Plano, Texas; Cindy Krsnak, of Rapid City, S.D., Danny Ashland, of Casper, Wyo., David Ashland, of Rapid City, and Terry Ashland, of Milford, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Nikki (Andrew) Renshaw-Drago, of Garland, Texas, Abby Renshaw-Ragan, of Melissa, Texas, Aaron (Cynthia) Renshaw, of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Craven, of Austin, Texas and Joseph Craven, of Plano, Texas; and an aunt, Edith Nichols, of Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Rudy and Frieda Hansen; two uncles, John Nichols and Andrew Saavedra; and an aunt, Ruby Hansen.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
