Surf Ballroom will launch pair of restaurants

The Surf Ballroom has announced plans to expand amenities through the creation of The Surfside Hospitality Group, Inc., a sub corporation formed to operate two adjacent restaurants.

“After seeing an increased need in quality catering and dining options for the many events we host, our Board of Directors saw an opportunity to grow our brand and expand services,” noted Laurie Lietz, executive director of the Surf Ballroom.  “We began to investigate the potential expansion and concurrently adjacent properties became available that would help to address the need,” added Lietz.

The newest additions to the Surf’s elite brand will simultaneously add services offered to the events they host, while revitalizing properties that surround the popular historic tourist and entertainment destination and offering quality dining options for visitors and residents of Clear Lake. a way that any potential net-profits will be reinvested into the Surf Ballroom and its continued maintenance and operation.

“We are so excited to see the neighborhood blossom this spring and summer with these dining options, and hope to fill a need within the community,” continued Lietz.

Visitors to The Surfside, located at 444 North Shore Drive, will experience a casual elegant dining concept with a Caribbean inspired atmosphere. The menu will feature hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood offerings. Plans are underway to expand the outdoor seating area, with additional seating options on the upper deck.

The Legacy Grill, located at 619 Buddy Holly Place, will boast a fun and vibrant music-inspired atmosphere, with a menu featuring a diverse selection of American classics. Regular live music will be a treat for visiting patrons.

Well known area chef Rudy Flores has been hired as Executive Chef and will oversee the kitchens in both establishments. He will be creating menus that feature some of his signature dishes along with classic standards utilizing fresh, quality ingredients.

“We are thrilled to add Rudy Flores to our staff. His passion for food is evident through the years of experience and success he has had within the restaurant industry,” said Shane Cooney, Surfside Hospitality Board president.

“I’m ecstatic for the opportunity to play a part in shaping these two exciting restaurant concepts,” stated Flores, “I’m really looking forward to getting started and thrilled to be involved with this great organization.”

Both restaurants plan to open this spring or early summer and are actively offering employment possibilities for every aspect of the operation.
