Tim Copas
Tim Copas, 51, of 1995 Apple Ave., Garner, Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at his home. Tim was a regular blood donor and will continue giving by donating to The Iowa Donor Network.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kirk Wilkie officiating. Memorials can be made to the Tim Copas Memorial Fund.
Timothy John Copas was born in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Clifton and Virginia (Johnson) Copas. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1981. He worked in construction with his passion being carpentry until the time of his death.
He married Suzanne K. Hoyt on Sept. 8, 1990, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They raised their daughter, Krystal, in Ventura, where they lived until they moved to the family farm in 2012.
He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River with his wife, watching Packer and Hawkeye football, his Labrador retrievers, Cleo, Carly and Jackson, spending time on the farm and having a cold one with friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Suzi Copas, Garner; daughter, Krystal (Steven) Thoe, Ventura, Iowa; two grandchildren, Edan and Eva Thoe, Ventura, Iowa; mother, Virginia Baxter, Clear Lake; nine brothers and sisters, Louetta Best, Clear Lake, Iowa, Edward (Kolene) Copas, Las Vegas, Nev., Diane Allen, Mason City, Iowa, Douglas (Jo) Copas, Lino Lakes, Minn., Altha (Andy) Garfin, Litchfield, Minn., Gregory (Debbie) Copas, Glencoe, Minn., Vincent Copas, Clear Lake, Phillip Copas, Clear Lake, and Monica (Don) VerHelst, Nora Springs, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Copas; his brother, Thomas Copas; and his father and mother in-law, Bob and Pat Hoyt.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
