TRI Clear Lake Triathlon moves to September
by Michelle Watson
The TRI Clear Lake Triathlon announced last week that it will be changing the date of the event to Saturday, Sept. 4. A virtual option will also be available for those unable to attend this year’s date. The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 4th Annual TRI Clear Lake Triathlon sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
This is the perfect race for beginners, or for experienced triathletes. The scenic course will commence at State Park Beach with a 500 meter swim before a 12.4 mile bike course guides athletes out and back along South Shore Drive through the prairie and windmills south of Clear Lake. The race is capped off with a 3.1 mile run on South Shore drive heading north to the lakeside The event finishes in City Park, downtown Clear Lake. At the completion of the race, a high-energy lakefront finisher party will be held, complete with music, food and beverages.
New for 2020 is the addition of an Olympic Distance Race.
Packet pickup will take place on Friday, Sept. 4, from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 6-7:45 a.m. Athletes must pick up their own packets, at which time they will be required to show a photo ID and their USAT membership card (if applicable). This applies to individual relay team members, as well.
