Two vote centers in CL

Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the day for voters to head to the polls for the Regular Election. In Clear Lake, voters may cast their ballots at City Hall, 15 N. 6th St., or Clear Lake Church of Christ, 2010 14th Ave. N. between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The County has elected to use “vote centers” again this election so only two polling sites, City Hall at 15 N. 6th St., and Church of Christ, 2010 14th Ave. N., will be open in Clear Lake.  Voters from any ward may vote at either location.

In Ventura, the Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for voting.

Locally there are two races for seats on the Clear Lake City Council.  Incumbents Jim Boehnke and Dana Brant are facing each other for the Ward 3 seat.  Both men are seeking second terms on the Council, however Brant currently represents Ward One.  Redistricting based upon the most current census information placed Brant within Ward 3.

Rich Oehlert and Mark Ebeling are each running for City Council for the first time and hope to become the new Ward One representative.

Mike Callanan is unopposed in his bid for a third term as an at-large representative.

Sample ballots appear on page 21.

There are no races in Ventura.  Lynn Benson, who was named as interim mayor following the resignation of Art Tesar earlier this year, is on the ballot, along with incumbent Council representatives Darwin Avery, John Quintus and Michael Thackery.
