Weather dampens golf meet

by Michelle Watson

A challenging course and windy conditions made for a tough day for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team when they competed at the Spring Valley Golf Course on Monday, April 8.  Bishop Garrigan won the meet with a 194.  GHV finished with a 253.  North Iowa also competed, but finished with an incomplete score.

“We did not play up to our ability and the scores reflected that,” said Coach Todd Greiman.  “I continue to see some positives in each girl and I am optimistic that as they get more experience their scores will improve dramatically.”

Carlee Frayne was the only player to keep her score under 60.  She led the team with a 47.  The rest of the scores were very close, with Rylee Frayne shooting a 68 and three girls finished with a 69, Jailyn Krien, Kelsey Watson and Bailey Johnson.  Jamie Hejlik ended with a 70.
