A win and a loss for girls tennis team

The Clear Lake girls tennis team split matches with opponents last week.
Charles City 8, CL 1
Clear Lake’s number one doubles team of Aimee Groeneweg and Ashlyn Fread posted the Lions’ only win against Charles City in a match played Tuesday, April 19. The duo prevailed, 8-6.
“Not having much experience outside, we had some close matches,” said Coach Cat Aragon-Bauer. “We are looking forward to more warmer weather and more matches. We played through cold temps and winds.”
In singles play, Fread had a very long match which ended in tiebreaker.
CL 8, H-D 1
The Lions traveled to Hampton Thursday, April 21, and handled the Bulldogs easily, 8-1. The Lions took five of six singles matches and swept the doubles competition.
“It was a great night for tennis and great night for us,” said Coach Aragon-Bauer. “The girls came out and worked hard for their wins. We look forward to the competition coming up in the next weeks.
