Despite halftime lead; Lions lose to Iowa-Falls Alden

The Lions went to Iowa Falls Friday night looking to avenge the loss the Cadets handed them in the first game of the season.  They didn’t get the win, but a much better outing has made Coach Kevin Kahler and his team believers that the third time may be the charm if the Lions meet IF-A on the tournament trail.

Back on Nov. 27, the Cadets topped the Lions 67-58 in the season-opener.

Friday IF-A, 9-2 overall and leading the North Central Conference, escaped with a 59-57 victory.

After falling to the Osage Green Devils in the conference season opener, the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team was looking forward to a rematch at the North Iowa Conference Tournament held on Monday, Oct. 1, in Garner.  Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the outcome was the same, with the Green Devils winning the match, 30-28, 25-10 and 26-24.

“We simply didn’t play well against them back in August and we wanted an opportunity to prove we were a better ball team,” said Coach Tracy Schmidt.
