Brian M. Isch, 44, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.  A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Hogan 

Esther K. Myers

 

Esther K. Myers, 89, Clear Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, six days before her 90th birthday, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. Visitation was Sunday, July 22, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.  The Funeral Services were held in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, Monday, July 23, at St. John’s Catholic Church 

with Rev. Marvin Salz and Msgr. John Hemann officiating.  Interment was at the St. John’s Cemetery, Ft. Atkinson.  Memorials may be given in her honor to St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.

Marjorie Hopper

 

Marjorie E. Hopper, 89, of Ventura, Iowa, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City, Iowa.

  Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug, 4, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura with Pastor Daird Korth officiating.  Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. 

Bartlett named to All-State Soccer Team

 

Clear Lake’s Hannah Bartlett has been named to the 2012 Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association’s All-State Team.

Bartlett was a Class 1A Second Team selection.  Twelve players and a goal keeper

Loux named to NCC Second Team in softball

 

Clear Lake Head Softball Coach Nicki Petersburg has announced post-season conference and team honors. The Lions finished the season ninth in the 10-team North Central Conference field with a 1-15 NCC record.  The team was 2-25 

overall.

Seven earn spots on NCC conference teams

 

Seven members of Clear Lake’s record-setting baseball team have received All-North Central Conference honors.  The 33-7 Lions set a school record for most wins in a season.

The Lions and Bishop Garrigan tied for the most players receiving all-conference honors.  Garrigan captured the NCC title and earned a State berth in Class 1A.

Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, has announced that usage in its “West Control Area” set a record Wednesday, July 25.   

According to preliminary data, the new record peak is 3,724 megawatts set at 5 p.m. on July 25, 2012.  The previous record peak of 3,699 megawatts was set one year ago on July 18, 2011. Before that, the record was 

Sioux Falls man charged with kidnapping, rape of Clear Lake 13-year-old

 

A Sioux Falls, S.D., man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old runaway from Clear Lake.  Twenty-one-year-old Mensur A. Malik was arrested Monday, July 30.

Club’s event keeps getting bigger, better

 

This weekend the C.L.A.S.S. Car Club presents its 28th annual Summer Cruise, Dance and Car Show by the lake.  The event is the largest car show between Des Moines and Minneapolis.

“It is always a great time.  Last year over 700 cars cruised around the lake on Friday evening and over 425 cars were at the show on Saturday,” said Jerry Young, C.L.A.S.S. president.
