Woodward blends stories with technology to preserve history

   It’s difficult to assign a title to David Woodward’s work. 
    He’ll tell you he’s a producer and director.  And he is.  But he’s also a historian, videographer and writer, to name a few more.  Wrap them all up into one and he’s technologically savvy storyteller.

Clear Lake men will receive lifesaving award

    A pair of Clear Lake men are among 26 individuals who will be recognized with Governor’s Lifesaving Awards during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair later this week. Shane Monson and Michael Moorehead will be honored with a lifesaving award, given to those who have saved the lives of others without apparent risk to their own life.

    Richard “Dick” Eugene Eibey, 85, 1909 Main Ave., Clear Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.  A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug, 11, at the United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Duane Bergan

    Duane Bergan, age 76, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.
     Duane M. Bergan was born on July 12, 1935, at his parents’ home in Springfield Township, Winneshiek County, Decorah, the son of Orval and Adeline (Haugen) Bergan.  Duane was baptized on Aug. 4, 1935, by the Rev. Paul Koren and was confirmed on May 14, 1950, both at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.

Rea Faber earns All-State Softball recognition

    Clear Lake’s Rea Faber has been included on the Iowa Girls Coaches Association (IGCA) 2011 All-State Softball teams.
    Faber, a senior outfielder for the Lions, received Honorable Mention in All-State balloting announced last week.  Earlier, she was named to the All-North Central Conference First Team. 
    Faber posted strong numbers on offense and defense for the Lions.  She ended the 2011 season with 30 stolen bases and a batting average of - Read More Via e-Edition
