Elaine Joyce Taylor, age 92, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Bickford, of Davenport, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Pastor David Peterson and Pastor Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Howard.

Valeta G. “Vee” Waner

  Valeta Gay “Vee” Waner, 74, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 11:51 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Health And Rehab.

  A memorial service was held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, with Lynn Scott officiating.

  Burial was at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.

The Clear Lake Lions wrapped up a perfect regular season and claimed a district championship with a convincing 28-7 win over Iowa Fall-Alden Friday night.

The Clear Lake Lions wrapped up a perfect regular season and claimed a district championship with a convincing 28-7 win over Iowa Fall-Alden Friday night.

Wright earns a trip to State Cross Country Meet

Clear Lake’s Justin Wright out-kicked a half dozen runners down the stretch to earn a spot at Saturday’s cross country State Meet.

The Clear Lake boys and girls teams competed in a State Qualifier at Independence Thursday, Oct. 24.

Wright, a junior, led the Lion boys to a seventh place overall.  His 11th place finish, in a personal best time of 17:09, qualified him to compete at the State Meet in Ames.  He will run at 12:30.
