RAGBRAI group develops rules for vendors during July 23 stop here

“One aspect of having RAGBRAI visit a community is the opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to generate income as a vendor.  While a perception is that everyone can ‘get rich’ when RAGBRAI comes to town, the fact is that will not happen, however those who want to get involved, do some extra work, have some fun, and make a nice profit will probably meet their expectations,” explains Diane Thompson, chair of the local committee planning for the RAGBRAI visit to Clear Lake July 23.

Any individual, any organization, or any business who wants to generate additional income from having RAGBRAI in town in a manner that is not consistent with their routine business procedure for the rest of the summer/week/year – and/or who does not already have a permit authorizing them to do that business will be required to purchase a vendor permit from the RAGBRAI Planning Committee for July 23.

According to the committee,  individuals and organizations planning any project will require a RAGBRAI permit.  

Businesses, however, may be exempt.

If a downtown business wants to do extra for RAGBRAI that is in line with their normal business and is within their building or within three feet of the existing building, then they don’t have to get a vendor permit from the Planning Committee.  An example would be if their business is retail clothing and they decide to have 50 percent off sales (of clothing) or increase their routine stock for July 23, then no special RAGBRAI permit would be required.  However, if their business is retail clothing and they decide to also sell food or provide massage therapy on their premises - Read More Via e-Edition
