Vanessa Peterson

A Memorial Mass for Vanessa A. Peterson, age 36, of Marshall, Minn., was held on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, in Marshall.  Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, in Marshall. Vanessa passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Marshall.

Vanessa Ann Peterson was born in Mason City, Iowa, on Sept. 22, 1978 to Dennis and Kay Peterson. On Aug. 26, 2000 Vanessa married Derek DeBell.  From this union, the two were blessed with their two children, Deondrea and Dawson. Vanessa worked various retail jobs.  She took pride in teaching Tae Kwon Do and was an after school coordinator at White Tiger Martial Arts, in Sioux City.  She was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, and playing cards.  Most important to her was the time she spent with her family, especially her two children.

Vanessa is survived by her children, Deondrea and Dawson DeBell; father, Dennis “Black Pete” Peterson; brother, Vaughn Peterson and his significant other, Riann Rave; niece, Brooklyn Rave-Peterson; aunts and uncles, Mark and Sandra Altman and Dean and Doreen Peterson; and many loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Kay Peterson-Sobek; paternal grandparents, Carl and Helen Peterson; and maternal grandparents, Roger and Mary Jane Peterson.
