GHV boys go 1-2 in recent soccer action
Despite playing hard and recording some close games, the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys soccer team could only manage one win in soccer action last week, while dropping two.
GHV 4, CAL 2
Bad weather didn’t hamper the Cardinals as they picked up a 4-2 victory over CAL on Monday, May 18
“We played well and the boys finally ended their losing streak,” said Coach Eric Williams. “I was really proud of the way we played. It was also a lot of fun playing every athlete on the bench.”
Everyone on the team contributed to the win.
Scoring one goal apiece was Turner Albertson, Connor Burke, Ryan Meyers and Nathan Lacaria.
Dalton Basinger had one assist.
Jeremiah Loschen and Chase Theobald shared the goalie duties. Loschen had three saves and Theobald had one. Both of CAL’s goals were scored against Theobald.
Burke led the team with shots on goal with three. Albertson, Basinger, Meyers, Lacaria and Colton Schroeder had one apiece.
Mason City 4, GHV 3
GHV had to rely on younger players to carry them against Mason City on Tuesday, May 19. It was a great effort, but the team fell just short as the Mohawks picked up a 4-3 victory. - Read More Via e-Edition
