Some residents needed to be evacuated from their homes and traffic was re-routed after a gas line was ruptured early Thursday, June 4, by workers.
A crew from North Iowa Septic Service was reportedly working near the intersection of North 6th Street and 4th Avenue North about 12:15 p.m. when their equipment struck an unmarked gas line.
Clear Lake police officers and firefighters were on the scene and re-routed traffic for about an hour and secured the scene until Alliant Energy could respond and clamp the two and one-half inch line.
No injuries were reported.
