50 Years Ago June 1965

Footings have been poured and foundation walls are rising at the site of the new Clear Lake Municipal Center now under construction at 1st Ave. N. and N. 6th St.

The water level of Clear Lake rose to +6.96” above the outlet spillway.

City workers were busy Tuesday morning cleaning hundreds of dead yellow bass and bullheads from the beaches around the lake.  Iowa Conservation Commission biologists are studying the results of this natural mortality loss.  Bacteria and cool water are being blamed for the fish kill.

It’s back-to-back James Bond at the Lake Theater with Sean Connery in “Dr. No,” and “From Russia With Love.”
