Some 75 trucks and 103 registrants were in Clear Lake over the weekend to participate in the F-100 gathering.

Rain, and lots of it, has helped to lift the level of Clear Lake.  The level was measured at 40.08” below the spillway.  Last week the lake measured -42.80.

Contributions for a new Ventura Public Library are now nearing the $70,000 mark, according to Librarian Ann Grimm.  The goal is $110,000.

The Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department is considering submitting a proposal to locate a monument to the state’s fallen firefighters.  The group is hoping to locate the statue at the site of the Clear Lake Fire Museum, the state’s only such museum.

The Clear Lake Yacht Club will host the first ever National Championship on the lake this summer.  There will be upwards of 70 boats, according to Regatta Chairman Jeff Nicholas.  Some 15-20 local sailors will be involved.

Construction on North Shore Drive will likely wait until after the July 4 holiday.

Nine young women from around North Iowa are set to compete for the title of Miss North Iowa 1990 on Aug. 4 in E.B. Stillman Auditorium.  Contestants include: Robyn Bruns, Tammy Bullington, Karen Christians, Theresa Gille, Stephanie Nicolson, all of Clear Lake, Nicole Herman, of Mason City, Jenelle Poland, of Garner, Lynette Wells, of Osage, and Didi Zahariades, of Mason City.

“The Foreigner,” Clear Lake Arts Council’s summer theater production will open this weekend.

North Iowa Christian School has announced the hiring of Lavonne Kacer as preschool director.

Brent and Linda Scarrow, of Clear Lake, announce the birth of their fourth child, Stephen Alan, born May 29, 1990.

Workers have been making progress on the new media center at the Ventura High School building.

Jody Luscomb hit a double in the bottom of the 7th inning driving in two runs enabling the Ventura/Klemme softball team to beat Northeast Hamilton, 6-5.

Mark Meehlhlause was the winning pitcher for Clear Lake against Hampton, giving up only two runs on two hits.  The Lions beat the Bulldogs, 9-2.  Eric Meyer had one hit for Clear Lake, Scott Sommers had two hits and Mark Ades smacked a double.  Jamie Weaver also had a hit.
