Darlene Joyce Buchan, 77, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.
A celebration of Darlene’s life will be was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Family suggests memorials to Oakwood Care Center in memory of Darlene.
Darlene was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Rudolph W. and Malinda E. (Loeslin) Milow. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilbert, Minn.. She attended parochial school until eighth grade and then graduated from Ceylon High School, Ceylon, Minn.
After high school she worked at General Mills, in Minneapolis, Minn. and later was the secretary at Fairmont Jr. High.
Darlene married Randy Buchan on June 22, 1958, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilbert, Minn. They made their home in Fairmont, Mason City and Clear Lake. She was a homemaker for over 20 years and then went to work for Corner Drug Store, in Clear Lake, for over 18 years, until she retired.
She enjoyed biking, traveling and spending winters in Gulf Shores, Ala. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends
She was a member of the Keynotes Chorus for many years and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Randy Buchan, Clear Lake; her four children, Pamela (Brian) Thomsen, and their sons, Riley and Ian, St. Louis, Mo., Lynne (Don) Bray and their children, D.J., Emily and Sydney, Swampscott, Mass., Rick (Jackie) Buchan, and their sons, Mitchell and Trevor, Albany, Calif. and Brad (Jodi) Buchan, and their children, Ben and Zoey, Johnston, Iowa; her sister, Elaine Krueger, Fairmont, Minn.; and brothers, Roland (Ruth) Milow, Fairmont, Wallace (Barbara) Milow, Zumbrota, Minn. and Gerald (Mary) Milow, Fairmont.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Delores Draper.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care that was given to Darlene at the Oakwood Care Center.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
