A possible merger of staffs between the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Clear Lake Business and Industrial Development Corporation may be approved by their respective boards.  The two boards want to combine their leadership.  Presently the two groups are both houses at the Chamber of Commerce, 205 Main Ave.  The two groups have had different goals, but both are concerned with the economic health of the community.

An auction to benefit the Ventura Public Library building fund netted even more than organizers had hoped for.  More than $5,500 was raised in the “celebrity” auction.

The temperature has been hot, hot, hot.  On Thursday the mercury hit 100 degrees and is expected to stay at the century mark a day or two more.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Nickerson celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary aboard the Lady of the Lake.  Eighty guests attended the event hosted by their daughters.

Army National Guard Pvt. Steven W. Snow has completed an Army Motor Transport Operator course at Fort Dix, N.J.  The private is a 1987 graduate of CLHS.

A group of three local businessmen have opened Lake Stop, a gasoline and convenience store located on Interstate 35 and Highway 106.  Jo Ann Welsh has been hired to manage the store.

Lake Partners Real Estate of Clear Lake has announced the appointment of Jean Bird as sales consultant to their firm.

The Clear Lake softball team sandwiched one win in last week between two losses.  Clear Lake’s bats came to life against Hampton for the 11-5 win.  Scoring two runs apiece were Lisa Broers, Kendra Berge and Kandi Rappe.  Pitcher Wendy Ball struck out four batters.

The Ventura/Klemme softball team took first place at the Rockford Tournament and were runners-up in the North Star Conference.  With the help of three hits from Megan Coe and two hits from Lori Hasenwinkel, the girls beat Twin River Valley, 12-7.  Against Woden-Crystal Lake, Charity Weberg had two hits and Julie Buchanan drove in winning run to take the 3-2 victory.

Playing at the Surf Ballroom on July 7 is Litterer Band Rock Concert.
